Inheritance

The bill arrived yesterday: my great-grandfather's mortgage, compounding backward through time. I owe for a house demolished in 1952. My descendants will inherit my student loans, accruing interest into epochs I'll never see. The past is expensive. The future, bankrupt before it begins.
